EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant

Brownfield Site Application / Consideration Form

Welcome!

In May 2025, the EPA announced it had selected Tabernacle Community Development Corporation for a $500,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant. The grant funds will be used to conduct up to 17 Phase I and 7 Phase II environmental site assessments. Grant funds also will be used to develop cleanup plans and support reuse planning and community engagement activities.

Tabernacle Community Development Corporation is inviting property owners to submit their property for consideration for assessment through the Brownfields Program. This form helps us gather the information needed to determine whether a property may be appropriate for consideration under the program.

What Is a Brownfield?

A brownfield is generally defined as real property where the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.

Brownfield assessment and redevelopment can help:

· Protect public health and the environment

· Reduce neighborhood blight

· Revitalize vacant or underutilized properties

· Encourage investment and economic development

· Reduce development pressure on green spaces and working lands
